Scenes like this one is why I side-eye anyone who thinks RTD handled race in Doctor Who  appropriately.

For reals. 900 years old, this man has dealt with humans and humanity for centuries, and you mean to tell me in all of his time on the planet he doesn’t even have a goddamn BASIC NOTION OF RACISM DOWN?????

    Get the **** out.

SMH. You’ve been a genius forever? And been eating **** on Earth for about the same amount of time? And you DON’T KNOW that the reason why you’ve been able to travel ANYTIME, ANYWHERE is because you’re a WHITE, GUY. Get all the way the **** outta here man >_>

Funny how the man can spout off quantum physics, a **** ton of different languages and a **** ton of other philosophical stuff but addressing racism in its basic form is just too ****ing hard????

    Chile, please….

You know with white, European writers, we were lucky to even get this and the parts in “Human Nature”, since the UK doesn’t have racism.

This bugged the **** out of me. There were more nonwhite actors under RTD, which is definitely good, but the show was very dismissive about race at all.

I was not a fan of the dismissiveness of this scene.  It REALLY bothered me.  I’m glad that I’m not the only one who noticed.

Reason #13429 the Doctor needs to regenerate into someone other than a white dude.

And then have a writer who’d understand the implications of that instead of just brushing it off…

This always got me, too. How can he just brush that aside?  I am a woman, and I know that there are places in the world TODAY that would execute me for walking around in public sleeveless with my hair uncovered — whether or not I just “acted like I owned the place.”  Not only is he belittling her totally valid concern over a REAL issue, he is jeopardizing her safety (well, I guess the safety thing is what he does to everyone).

Don’t mind me, I’m just pointing out it wasn’t actually RTD who wrote the ep.  And the point that the Doctor didn’t think about it because people are the same to him.
